A
An Affair to Remember
• Locations: French Riviera, New York City • Actors: Deborah Kerr, Cary Grant • Our Stars: 5 of 5 • Rated G • Personal Notes: This is one of the best romantic travel films of all time. It will make you want to take a trans-Atlantic cruise in your best evening wear while sipping Pink Champagne.

B
The Beach
• Locations: Thailand • Actors: Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel York and Patcharawan Patarakijjanon • Our Stars: 3 of 5 • Rated R • Personal Notes: Weird movie for sure -- it sort of has some remnants of a modern day Lord of the Flies. You will love the beach scenes and be intrigued by the chaotic environment of Bangkok.

Blue Crush
• Locations:  North Shore of Oahu (Hawaii) • Actors: Kate Bosworth, Michelle Rodriguez, Mika Boorem, Faizon Love, Brian Keaulana (II) • Our Stars: 2.5 of 5 • Rated PG-13 • Personal Notes: It's fun to watch people surfing pipeline but this can get unrealistic and cheesy at times. Michelle Rodriguez plays the same roll she does in every movie, some bad a$* chick with a chip on her shoulder. The soundtrack of this movie was great with some Damian Marley and a remix of "Cruel Summer" first heard on Karate Kid back in the 80's.

C
Casino Royale
• Locations: Paradise Island, Bahamas, Madagascar, Prague, Czech Republic, Venice and Lake Como, Italy • Actors: Daniel Craig, Mads Mikkelsen • Our Stars: 4 of 5 • Rated PG-13 • Personal Notes: This is considered one of the best James Bond films ever made. Daniel Craig makes Pierce Brosnan look like a sissy. You will enjoy the action and glamor all rolled into one not-to-miss film.

D

E
Eat Pray Love • Locations: Rome, Naples (Italy), Venice, India, Bali (Indonesia) • Actors: Julia Robers, Javier Bardem • Our Stars: 2.5 of 5 • Rated PG-13 • Personal Notes: Reading the book was much better and you will get bored with the India scenes as well as her friend Richard from Texas who calls her "Groceries" what seems like a thousand times before the film is over. Needless to say, we wish someone would pay us to move to Italy and eat for 3 months!

F
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
• Locations: Oahu (Hawaii) • Actors: Jason Segel, Kristin Bell • Our Stars: 4 of 5 • Rated R • Personal Notes: You will crack up laughing practically the whole film, but we can't say our parents would approve of this raunchy (but hilarious) movie. You will have an overwhelming desire to hop on a plane for Turtle Bay Resort and join Dakota Fanning's people in the Kapua Suite.

I
I Am Love
• Locations: Lombardia (Italy), Liguria (Italy) • Actors: Tilda Swinton • Our Stars: 2 of 5 • Rated R • Personal Notes: Don't expect to feel good after watching this movie, but it gives a glimpse into the life of an Italian family living in high society.

J

K

Knight and Day
• Locations: Boston, Andalucia (Spain), Salzburg (Austria), Jamaica, Orient Express • Actors: Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz • Our Stars: 3 of 5 • Rated PG-13

L
Letters to Juliet
• Locations: Verona (Italy) • Actors: Amanda Seyfried, Vanessa Redgrave • Our Stars: 2 of 5 • Rated PG • Personal Notes: This movie is super cheesy but the scenery is so wonderful, you will overlook most of its flaws. You will, however, not be able to ignore the poor acting of the leading Englishman and his unusually large feet. Seriously, you will start to notice how big they are as the movie goes on and you won't be able to concentrate on anything else.

Love Actually
• Locations: London, France, Portugal • Actors: Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson • Our Stars: 5 of 5 • Rated R • Personal Notes: If you're a girl, you've probably seen this. Hugh Grant and Colin Firth are great in their roles.

M
My Life in Ruins
• Locations: Athens and Greek Isles • Actors: Nia Vardalos, Richard Dreyfuss • Our Stars: 2 of 5 • Rated PG-13 • Personal Notes: This movie is at least entertaining at best, but the scenery is to-die-for! The end gets weird with Richard Dreyfuss having threesomes with some of the other tour members, gross!

My Father the Hero
• Location: Paradise Island, Bahamas • Actors: Gérard Depardieu, Katherine Heigl, • Our Stars: 2 of 5 • Rated PG • Personal Notes: The three of us viewed this movie on our way to Europe back in 1994 so we were kind of forced to watch it. What's alluring about the film is the great island feel and the excitement of a possible vacation romance.

N

O
Only You
• Locations: Venice, Rome, and Positano (Italy) • Actors: Marisa Tomei, Bonnie Hunt, Robert Downey, Jr. • Our Stars: 4 of 5 • Rated PG • Personal Notes: If you believe in Destiny or Destino, you'll love this romantic comedy with a young Robert Downey, Jr. Also, we love Marisa Tomei's style, even though it's set in the early nineties.

Ocean's Twelve
• Locations: Amsterdam, Lake Como (Italy) Rome and Paris • Actors: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta-Jones • Our Stars: 3.5 of 5 • Rated PG-13

P
Pride and Prejudice
• Locations: Peak District (England) • Actors: Keira Knightley, Donald Sutherland • Our Stars: 5 of 5 • Rated PG • Personal Notes: This classic Jane Austen story is beautifully filmed and wonderfully acted. It makes you want to frolic in the English countryside and then stand on a precipice in the Peak District, while having the wind blow your gown as you ponder on your love for Mr. Darcy.

Q

R
Roman Holiday • Locations: Rome (Italy) • Actors: Audrey Hepburn, Gregory Peck • Our Stars: 3 of 5 • Rated G • Personal Notes: Audrey Hepburn won an Oscar for her role as Princess Anne. It's a great snapshot of all the best tourist spots in Roma. If you're planning a trip to Italy, watch this movie and then watch Only You and enjoy the movie reference.

S
The Sound of Music
• Locations: Salzburg (Austria) • Our Stars: 5 of 5 • Rated G • Personal Notes: This classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical was filmed in Salzburg, so it's a must-see before you go. A fun activity is trying to locate all the actual buildings and plazas from the movie. These are a few of my favorite things.

Step Into Liquid
• Locations: Australia, Half Moon Bay (California), Ireland, Mal Pais (Costa Rica), Monterey (California), Pipeline (Hawaii), Sheboygan (Wisconsin), Tahiti, Texas, Vietnam • Actors: Laird Hamilton, Layne Beachley, Dan Malloy • Our Stars: 3.5 of 5 • Rated PG (documentary) • Personal Notes: This film documents surfing around the world. It's interesting to see surfers in locales you don't normally think of such as Wisconsin and Ireland. We particularly like this movie because the Malloy surfing family travels to Ireland and meets a personal friend of ours, Irish surfer, Richie Fitzgerald.

Seven Years in Tibet
• Locations: Nepal, Tibet • Actors: Brad Pitt, David Thewlis, • Our Stars: 4 of 5 • Rated PG-13 • Personal Notes: Not a very lighthearted movie, but if you're more into adventure than relaxation, what better way to say you're a thrill-seeker than to scale Mount Everest in the Himalayas.

T
To Catch a Thief
• Locations: French Riviera and Monte Carlo (Monaco) • Actors: Cary Grant, Grace Kelly • Our Stars: 4 of 5 • Not Rated • Personal Notes: Alfred Hitchcock directs this American classic. You will wish you owned every outfit Grace Kelley wears throughout the film. She met and married the real-life Prince of Monaco shortly after filming this jewel-heist mystery while attending the Cannes Film Festival.

The Tourist • Locations: Paris, France and Venice, Italy • Actors: Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie • Our Stars: 4 out of 5 • Rated PG-13 • Personal Notes: This smart and funny story about a quirky guy entangled in a plot with a mysterious woman will leave you wanting glamorous clothes and an anonymous and wealthy sugar-daddy to keep you in a life of style.

Two for the Road • Locations: the south of France • Actors: Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney • Our Stars: 3 out of 5 • Not Rated • Personal Notes: This film features non-linear storytelling of a couple who have taken many road trips throughout Europe. We love Audrey's outfits, but this comedy can be a little dark as they explore their troubled marriage. Definitely worth watching. The main lesson we learned is to never go on a road trip with an annoying couple and their kid.

U
Under the Tuscan Sun • Locations: Cortona, Florence, and Rome, Italy • Actors: Diane Lane, Sandra Oh • Our Stars: 3 of 5 • Rated PG • Personal Notes: Beware, this movie will make you want to throw caution to the wind and randomly buy a villa in Tuscany. And meet a handsome Italian named Marcello.

V
Vertigo
• Locations: San Francisco (California) • Actors: Jimmy Stuart, Kim Novak • Our Stars: 5 of 5 • Rated PG

Vicky Cristina Barcelona
• Locations: Barcelona, Oviedo, Spain • Actors: Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Scarlett Johansson • Our Stars: 4 of 5 • Rated PG-13

W
A Walk in the Clouds
• Locations: Napa Valey (California) • Actors: Keanu Reaves, Anthony Quinn • Our Stars: 2 of 5 • Rated PG • Personal Notes: If you're a Keanu hater, this may be the one movie where you discover he may actually have a soul. If you've ever dreamed about owning a vineyard in Napa, this is probably the setting you would imagine.

White Squall
• Locations: Caribbean, South Pacific • Jeff Bridges, Scott Wolf (II), Ryan Ryan Phillippe • Our Stars: 3 of 5 • Rated PG-13 • Personal Notes: Watching this as a teenager, it was pretty much a dream come true because there were tons of hot guys on one boat. Loosely based on a true story, this floating school on the high seas turns dramatic when a storm hits. We all cried our eyes out for a good ten minutes after it was over.
